Na základe vašej registrácie na portáli nabezky.sk si vás výnimočne dovoľujeme osloviť vo veci, ktorú považujeme dostatočne dôležitú na to, aby sme porušili naše predsavzatie neobťažovať našich používateľov nevyžiadanou poštou. Dúfame, ža nám to odpustíte. :-)
Ako asi viete, už niekoľko sezón sledujeme mechanizmy upravujúce trate, pomocou technológie GPS. Ich počet za ten čas narástol na sedemnásť, čím sme získali aktuálne dáta o úpravách z desiatich pohorí. Množstvo a kvalita informácií o aktuálnych podmienkach na bežkovanie na upravovaných tratiach sa tým významne zvýšili a chceli by sme preto tento program skvalitniť a ďalej rozšíriť.
Naša doterajšia skúsenosť však naznačuje, že na dosiahnutie tohoto cieľa nám chýbajú prostriedky. Peniaze potrebujeme na nákup kvalitných GPS prístrojov a ich inštaláciu, a potrebovali by sme aj nový server na spracovanie prijímaných GPS dát. Identifikácia a nábor úpravcov tratí do projektu je taktiež časovo náročný proces, ktorý už nedokážeme zvládnuť úplne dobrovoľnícky.
Objem peňazí, ktorý potrebujeme síce nie je malý (napr. kvalitný GPS stojí 120 eur) ale väčšina nákladov je našťastie jednorazových. Prostriedky sme sa preto najskôr snažili získať od verejných inštitúcií, ako sú sekcia cestovného ruchu pri MDaV SR, organizácie cestovného ruchu, ale aj cez žiadosť o grant cez MIRRI. Tieto pokusy však neboli úspešné. Rozhodli sme sa preto vytvoriť na StartLabe peňažnú zbierku, aby bežkári samotní dostali možnosť svojim príspevkom umožniť existenciu tohoto projektu.
Ak sa nám peniaze podarí vyzbierať, získame nie len viac informácií o upravenosti tratí, ale aj novú celoslovenskú mapu aktuálnych podmienok na bežkovanie. Ak sa nám peniaze vyzbierať nepodarí, budeme to interpretovať ako nezáujem bežkárskej verejnosti o tento typ služby.

As you probably know, for several seasons we have been using GPS devices to gather positional data from snow groomers during their work. In that time period, the number of monitored machines grew to seventeen providing data from almost a dozen mountain areas in Slovakia. The quantity and quality of information about the current conditions for cross-country skiing thus grew significantly. Consequently, we would like to keep improving and further expanding this program.
However, our experience so far indicates that we lack the means to achieve this goal. We need money to buy high-quality GPS devices and install them, and we would also need a new server to process the received GPS data. The identification and recruitment of new trail groomers is also a time-consuming process that we can no longer handle entirely on a voluntary basis.
The amount of money we need is not small (e.g. a high-quality GPS costs 120 euros), but fortunately most of the costs are one-time. We made several attempts to raise the needed funds from public institutions, such as the Ministry of Transportation, Slovak tourism organizations, but also through a grant application submitted to Ministry of Informatization and Regional Development (MIRRI). However, these attempts did not result in a desirable outcome. We therefore decided to create a fundraiser on the crowdsourcing platform StartLab, to allow the cross-country skiers themselves the opportunity to make the existence of this project possible with their contributions.
If we manage to raise the money, we will get not only information from more trail groomers, but also a new map of the current conditions for cross-country skiing in Slovakia. If we fail to collect the money, we will interpret it as a lack of interest of the cross-country public in this type of service.
